By eliminating pressure on the poll, this can be a great alternative to a traditional gag set up. 

This bit accessory is especially great for horses that:

• tend to be quite forward/strong and often evade aids by leaning downwards
• great for horses that do not handle poll pressure well

Types of bits that work well with this tool are gag-style bits & multi-ring/beval style bits.
