Hurricane Milton & Helene: What's Next?

The East Coast is currently facing devastating natural disasters that have left countless families in distress. As storms and flooding wreak havoc, many pet owners are grappling with the anxiety and uncertainty that comes with evacuations and displacement. Horses and canines, often considered cherished members of the family, are also affected by the chaos, experiencing fear and confusion as their routines are disrupted. The loss of familiar surroundings can lead to significant stress for these animals, and the challenges of finding safe shelter and care further exacerbate the situation for both pets and their owners. In these trying times, it’s vital that we come together to support one another and ensure that our beloved companions receive the care and comfort they need.

In response to the ongoing crisis, countless nonprofit organizations, civilians, and local groups have rallied together to provide vital relief efforts for those affected. Many residents in unaffected states have opened their hearts and barns, offering temporary housing for displaced equines, ensuring these majestic animals have a safe haven while their owners navigate recovery. For our beloved canines, shelters are actively seeking foster families, in hopes to create a sense of normalcy for those affected by the storms. These collaborative efforts to evacuate the affected areas not only help to ensure the safety and well-being of our beloved pets but also foster a spirit of unity and compassion among communities.

In the midst of this crisis, Herm Sprenger USA has stepped up with remarkable initiatives to support our community members and their pets. Our friends and retailers have generously contributed to relief efforts, ensuring that those affected receive much-needed assistance. Notable donations include:

  • Half a pallet of charcoal was donated by Pawmark
  • A full pallet of dog food and treats was donated by Southeastern Pet Supplies
  • A pallet of bottled water was donated by The National Police Dog Foundation
  • Impact crates were donated by Boss Dog Kennels
  • Leashes, collars, and harnesses were donated by Modern Icon
  • Dog food was donated by Tried and True
  • Medical supplies for both humans and animals were donated by North American Rescue
  • Water bowls were donated by JM Brady Company
  • Slip-style leads, leashes, and feed pans were donated by Ray Allen
  • Collars, leashes, and a pallet of water were donated by Herm Sprenger USA

Together, these collective efforts reflect the strength of our community and the commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of both people and their cherished pets during this difficult time. We thank our Director of Canine, Chris Daley, for spearheading this donation initiative and personally delivering aid and supplies to those in need.
