- Age Matters: We do not recommend prong collars for dogs younger than 7–9 months (Breed-dependent). This is because in many dogs, their growth plates have not yet closed, making them vulnerable to injury.
- First-Time User? Prong collars require correct usage to be safe and effective. If you’re new to them, we highly recommend working with a professional trainer.
- Wire Gauge = Safety: Using a collar that’s too small for your dog can lead to bending or snapping prongs, which can be dangerous. Always match the wire gauge to your dog’s weight category. Additionally, by using a wire gauge size that is not designed for your dog's weight, you void your product's warranty.
- Use a Safety Clip or Coupling Strap with your Collar! For the safest, most complete training set up, we recommend using a safety clip or coupling strap, as well as a flat collar, alongside your prong collar. This acts as a back up in the rare situation that your dog becomes loose of their prong collar.
